Some years ago, Brazilian Mauro Repacci moved to Canada and fell in love. Both with the country and the lady who is now his wife. Together with his family, now with three daughters, Mauro has traveled, lived, and worked in many different countries. He is the founder and CEO of Boundless Life and shared his experience with VanHack CEO Ilya Brotzky in an inspiring talk during VanHackCON 2022. Check out Mauro’s and Ilya’s ideas about the work-from-anywhere culture and the opportunities it creates for tech professionals.
VanHackCON, our annual free event, is the largest online conference for senior tech talent who want to get a job in Canada, the US, or Europe. The 2022 edition took place on the 18th and 19th of November. Keep an eye out for more free events and sign up for our platform to access international job opportunities and unique preparation.
Moving Abroad Changes Everything
We have helped so many families relocate over the years and we understand how moving abroad for work changes every aspect of one’s life. This is why Mauro Repacci’s talk for VanHackCON was so inspiring. He was able to deliver words of encouragement that come from real-life experience. Mauro faced the challenges and downsides of being a nomad and came out on the other side with so many positive ideas about the work-from-everywhere mindset.
Work-From-Everywhere With Children in Tow
Many VanHackers in our community are planning their international careers with a partner and or children. And pets too! Mauro says he never ceases to be amazed at how fast kids learn and adapt when they are exposed to new cultures. He and his family are currently living in Greece and the children are already able to speak the country’s famously difficult language.
Children are the main reason Mauro wanted to work abroad, to begin with. It’s a sentiment a lot of VanHackers share too, the wish to provide a better and richer life for their children. Are you a software developer or other tech professional who wants to relocate with your family? Here’s what Mauro has to say to you: Expose kids to the world!
Potential Growth For Children and Adults Alike
Yes, children learn fast. But moving abroad offers many growth opportunities for adults as well. Hey, Mauro ended up creating his whole business around what he learned traveling the world. Boundless Life helps other families relocate and create international lives.
So it comes as no surprise that the VanHackCON speaker believes moving around is great for entrepreneurs. Multicultural experiences allow you to create new ideas and make connections with people from different backgrounds.
Mauro’s words of inspiration: whenever you travel “learn everything you can, eat the food, learn the language, learn the history, go to places”.
If You Could Work-From-AnyWhere, Where Would You Go?
At the end of his talk, Mauro asked the audience where they would go if they could work for six months anywhere in the world. The chat board was filled with so many replies! Our audience of skilled tech professionals from all over the world answered about the desire to work from many different places around the globe. Way to go, VanHackers!
If you are reading this blog post, we assume you are also a tech worker who wants to join the work-from-anywhere culture. Where would you like to work? Our CEO Ilya Brotzky said he believes that “if you can speak English and program, the world is open to you”.
