  • 13% of tech professionals in Canada changed jobs in the past year
  • 15K+ tech jobs opportunities are open in Canada right now

The story these numbers tell is of an industry that is moving fast and in need of talents who are ready to tackle challenges head-on.

Alex noted that recruiters who use LinkedIn usually post opportunities focused on skills, and not necessarily job titles. The tech skills in high demand in Canada right now are:

  • Cloud computing 
  • Engineering
  • Software development
  • SQL
  • Consulting

Tech Job in High Demand in Canada

If we take a look at jobs with the most opportunities posted on LinkedIn in Canada, this is what we see:

  • Software engineer
  • Project manager
  • Solutions Architect
  • Full Stack engineer
  • Business analyst
  • Java software engineer
  • Business analyst
  • Developer
  • Data Engineer

Alex points out that the best-paying jobs are also the highest in demand.

The Tech Industry in Canada Faces a Supply Gap

Although the tech industry in general is facing some difficulties getting back up after the worst years of the pandemic, Canada has some interesting opportunities. The country’s tech sector is currently facing a supply gap. That means Canadian companies are looking for more workers than they can find. This, in turn, creates a high demand for skilled professionals.

Upscaling Courses Candidates Are Taking on LinkedIn

Rock Your LinkedIn Profile

How about showing your tech skills to the world? Sometimes, great candidates don’t stand out because their profiles do not reflect their accomplishments and abilities. So Alex shared a few tips on how to make your LinkedIn profile pop. 

  • Think of your profile summary as an elevator pitch. Write at least 40 words telling your story. 
  • List all your job titles.
  • List at least five skills, but add as many as possible.  
  • Provide details on your roles and responsibilities.
  • Provide details on the projects you were part of and the problems you solved.
  • Add “open to relocation” on your LinkedIn profile, if this is the case.

Complete profiles get 10% more messages and 8% more views. Adding your skills makes your profile get 17% more views. And to top it off, get some recommendations. Ask colleagues to recommend your skills and do the same for them.
