[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Starting April 1st 2023, Service Canada will fully transition to the online Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) Portal to manage all LMIA application submissions.
With this new update, applications can only be submitted directly in the LMIA online portal via an active Job Bank account.
⚠️Submissions through any other channels by paper, fax or email will not be accepted.
What is the LMIA Online Portal?
The LMIA Online Portal is a secure, reliable platform for Canadian employers and third party representatives to:
- Submit LMIA application(s) to Service Canada
- Make edits to your saved LMIA application before submission
- Upload supporting documents
- Review current and previously submitted applications (including applications prior to April 1st 2023)
- Securely pay LMIA fees
- Get real time updates on your application status, view notifications and decision letters issued by Service Canada
Who will be impacted by this update:
- Canadian employers who are currently in the process of or starting the application process for hiring and relocating foreign workers through the Temporary Foreign Worker > Global Talent Stream program
What you’ll need to do:
- Log in to the LMIA Online Portal with your Job Bank credentials
- If you do not have a Job Bank account set up yet, you’ll need to create a user or register your business on Job Bank. Follow the steps below to get started:
Step 1. Set up your Job Bank Account
If you’re the business owner:
Set up your Job Bank Account > Sign up as an “Employer” using your personal credentials, including your SIN Number and Payroll Account Number
💡Tip: As you’re setting up your account, there may be several references made to “advertising jobs.” Please ignore this messaging as it is NOT a recruitment requirement for the Global Talent Stream Program.
Each account is limited to 1 primary officer. By default the user who creates the employer file is the primary officer, but can assign primary officer privileges to another user.
The primary officer can:
- Edit the employer file details
- Add and remove users, and create an modify LMIAs
If you’re an employee of a business:
Each employee working on the business’ LMIA application will need to create their own Job Bank account with their own personal credentials.
Functions and access types include:
- Ability to appoint users and assign access types through the “Employer File” Job Bank account.
- Administrator access – Admins have the same functionalities as the primary officer, with the exception of the ability to modify the primary officer’s access type.
- User access – Individuals with user access can only create and modify LMIAs and remove their own access from the employer file. Assign this access to your third party immigration consultants.
Step 2. Sign into your LMIA Online Portal with your Job Bank Credentials
Use your Job Bank login credentials to login to the LMIA Online Portal.
Step 3. Log into your Job Bank Account and grant access to your VanHack immigration consultant
If you’re working with any third party representatives, such as a VanHack immigration consultant, ensure they have access to your file, by granting them USER ACCESS
Primary officer or administrator users can grant access by following these steps:
- Sign into your JobBank Account
- Select the Employer File on the left panel
- Select Users
- Add a New User
- Add in your VanHack Immigration Consultant Details Below
💪 The relocation support you need, every step of the way: Your VanHack Immigration Consultant will work with you to create the LMIA application online, upload documents and submit to Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC).
The Immigration Consultant will only be able to view the LMIA applications that they have created and submitted. Edits and information added by any other 3rd party representatives will not be visible.
